Thanks and welcome! (And I found a daycare!)

Just wanted to send out a quick thank you! to all the commenters on my previous post about going back to work. It makes my heart happy to know that there are people out there that I don't even know who are sending out well-wishes on this situation. And I appreciate all the advice.

Likewise, I want to take a moment to welcome all my new followers! Every day when I log in to blogger and see a higher follower number, I break out in a smile. It's kind of validating, you know? And I love, love, love comments, so talk away and I will do my best to respond... although at the moment, my laptop is in the shop and my husband's computer won't let me comment for some reason. I will have to catch up as soon as I get my computer back!

Yesterday, Kevin and I went to check out a different day care, and I was pleasantly surprised! It is 10 minutes from our house, but unfortunately 25 minutes from my work. Kevin would be the one dropping Adelaide off in the morning, and I will pick her up in the afternoons. It is right off the highway (a negative to me), and $100 more per month than the day care I mentioned in my previous post. It is small (less than 25 children) and it seemed to us to have a lot of parent involvement, from what we coul dsee.

BUT, everyone there was super nice, and it felt warm and happy. When I mentioned that I was stressed and anxious about leaving her with strangers and worried that she'd scream her head off forever, the owner kindly took Adelaide and cooed to her and smiled and assured me that she was in good hands. I thought it was really special how she took the time and opportunity to do that, to relax a worried mama. (Although, I know she will still cry until she adjusts, I felt more at ease here than at the previous centers we've visited.)

Adelaide would only be in the infant room for 5 months and then she'd move over to the 1-2 year old room, where I was pleased at the clean, uncluttered aesthetics. There were lots of wooden toys and not an overabundance of them. Just enough to maintain interest and variety. I liked that!

On the way home from the center, we pass by a local park/playground, and I am envisioning a mommy/daughter tradition of playing at the park after picking her up from daycare.... a way to bond and reconnect after a day apart, where she can tell me about her day and we can have a bit of fun before going home.

So, I'm still anxious about it, but I'm feeling a lot calmer knowing I found the right place for us. I will keep you all updated as the time for transition nears, but know that along with finding the right place, you all have helped me be at ease tremendously! Thank you!

Congratulations on finding daycare. I was lucky to find the lady we found for our three kids. It was very sad when my youngest let to go to school.

I never imagined how hard of a process it would be to find a place I would feel secure with. It took me months! I'm so happy for you!

Can't wait to hear more of your momventures!

  4. [Kristen] Welcome!

[Sally] From the start to finding this daycare, it hasn't been that long, but unfortunately there just aren't many options for us in our area that fits our price range. So we really had only a few to tour/interview before making our decision.

[Valery] Welcome! Thanks for stopping by!

I love comments! I read every single one and try to respond to most of them (during the baby's naps or in between loads of laundry). I value any and all thoughts, advice, and tidbits that you want to share!
